Skirting the Issue: Sky High Minis

Are you ready to go micro? With the return of 60s fashions, the mini skirt is back in style and this season designers are showing some seriously brief minis in bold colors that scream Summer.  Like all classics, the mini now comes in so many versions, it's practically all-inclusive. There's a wide spectrum of lengths that range from lower mid-thigh at Chanel and Gucci to a mere seven-eighths of an inch at Michael Kors. But, how you feel about the return of the miniskirt depends on your level confidence about your age and your legs. Whether you're 20, 30, or 40, miniskirts will keep you looking young and feminine.  Mini skirts are also a great way to show some leg.  Wearing a mini skirt can be extremely liberating even for those women worried about their cellulite.  It's all about finding the right mini skirt for you. So ladies, raise your hemlines and get ready to instantly turn heads in these sassy skirts.

High Waisted Mini
The term “mini skirt” may induce flashbacks to some questionable fashion moments in your past (cut off micro-mini denim skirts, anyone?), but I’m not talking about the ghosts of closets’ past. Today’s mini hits about mid-thigh and doesn’t involve a frayed hem. Rather than slung low on your hips (not a very flattering look for most of us), the modern mini is high-waisted and sits at your natural waist. To wear this trend with confidence, follow these tips:

  1. Belt it! I’m always a fan of cinching the waist, but a sleek slim belt atop a high-waisted number is the pinnacle of chic.
  2. Take a risk. This style is very flattering and probably more familiar to you than some other spring/summer hemlines, so play with the trends. Try a floral high-waisted skirt with denim on top. Or go black and white and finish the look with a pointed toe pump.
  3. Wear what works for you. Confidence is the key to any ensemble. If you love a high-waisted skirt but shorter hemlines just aren’t for you, stick with the style, but opt for a length you love.
Wrap Mini

There's something about the wrap effect that is super slimming, and if you can find one that points down your legs it will make them look miles long.
