PUNK-TUATE!

The Fall 2013 runways and last May's punk-themed Met Gala have me channeling my rebellious side. Rebels with a fashion cause everywhere can rejoice, as a glam punk-rock aesthetic has made its way from the catwalk to the streets. While we are seeing the return of punk, it's a far cry from the classic 90s grunge- rather a nouveau punk, if you will. Punk never looked as mainstream as it does this season, serving to accent the point where femininity meets edginess, meets glamour. The new punk infuses high fashion looks with a little extra attitude. Think studs, spikes, plaid and leather worn with more refined attire. The key is to limit yourself to one or two eye catching details that will instantly toughen up your look, while retaining the essence of your signature style.  I promise you'll pull these edgy pieces off with ease- all you need is the right attitude.

Go for the subtle punk appeal with studs on clutches or a pair of sexy open-toe, strappy heels.

 Plaid

Having a huge presence on the Fall runways, plaid is re-imaged this season in all colors and styles from flirty skirts to pants, to cropped jackets and shirt dresses.  Plaid can easily tough up an outfit made out of skinny leather pants, heavy boots and a sleek blazer, like the look from Saint Laurent below.
