2014's Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

Kate Spade

It's official: Pantone has named Radiant Orchid, a blend of fuchsia with pink and purple undertones, as the 2014 Color of the Year.  Winter may be here, but consumers should take heart in the spring-like hue that is saturating everything from clothing and cosmetic lines to jewelry and accessories!

Pantone has described the color as “a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple” that’s meant to “intrigue the eye and spark the imagination, serving to energize without overpowering — a quality we might all do well to emulate in 2014."

Personally, I love the versatility of the cheery shade, which, for me, inspires confidence and lifts my mood.  It can be livened up with yellows and oranges, while complementing blues, turquoise and teal.  It also brightens up neutral shades of gray, beige and taupe. The color is equally complimentary to both men and women and its rosy tones flatter a number of skin tones.

Fashionistas everywhere are stocking up on this vibrant shade and you should too.  Shop my favorite radiant pieces below.
