Be A Sucker For Seersucker

Banana Republic

Winter is only half way through, but I'm already dreaming of warmer temps and nothing says spring or summer like a nice piece of breezy seersucker fabric.  It’s light and airy, and comes in a rainbow of sweet stripes, from nautical navy to cotton candy pink.   Up til now, classic seersucker has been associated with Southern gentlemen, sweetened iced tea and garden weddings, but it's not just for the classic dresser anymore.  For 2014, the puckered-cotton fabric transcends its preppy origins to appear on fashionable women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. This year we’re seeing brighter iterations in red, green, yellow and dark blue. The fabric is pervasive on crisp jackets, flirty blouses, smoking slippers, fedoras, and more.  Whether it be a seersucker blazer, dress, shirt-dress, pants or shorts, it's a look that is sweet enough for church and casual enough for a barefoot walk in the park.  The best part is it can be easily be dressed up with a trendy denim jacket or pretty cardigan.  Check out my favorite sucker-free seersucker looks below.
