Un-upholstered

Wondering how you can wear brocade without looking upholstered?  This sumptuous fabric, traditionally worn in fall and winter, has been reinvented for spring.  To keep it modern- and avoid the 1950s frump factor- choose pieces with youthful shapes, like a swingy mini, a bomber jacket or shorts.  And don't forget to pay attention to the hemlines! Don't pick a skirt length that makes you look elderly.  Instead, go for one that hits above the knee, not midcalf.  Then amp up the flirty feel with pointy-toe pumps or ankle strap sandals.
