Tip Your Hats to The Best Toppers for Winter 2015

Maison Rabih Kayrouz

We all have that one accessory that becomes a sort of signature, whether it be an overloaded arm candy or a scarf for every day of the week. Me? I'm a hat girl and have been since back in the day when I had one to go with every single outfit (thanks, Mom!). It just so happens the two decades I am more sartorially inspired by are the '70s and '90s—both major times for hats. Now that the straw fedoras have been put away, I'm ready to start rocking hats of the wool, felt, and (faux) fur variety, on days that call for a little extra somethin'—or when I just can't be bothered with fixing a bad hair day! Whether girly, grunge, or somewhere in between—there is a chic chapeau for you.

Whether in a bold print, or reppin' your favorite team, a baseball hat is the way to go—whether with jeans and a tee or mixed with majorly luxe items from your closet. I love giving a super-hot look a bit of a tomboy edge with a leather cap.

Now, beanies may conjure up images of snowmen and skiing, but when you throw some pointy-toe pumps and sleek silhouettes into the mix—a cozy hat (I'm thinking cashmere) is just the right amount of relaxed and warmth for a chilly day. And why not go for a color pop if you feel so inclined?

Sigh. My fave, the wide-brimmed hat. Whether floppy or more of a classic fedora shape, I pinky promise that purchasing a hat in this style will completely transform your wardrobe. Feeling particularly edgy? Throw on some shades too. Fierce.

Last but not least, the fur hat was seen on the fabulous models at Fendi, Preen, and Dolce & Gabbana this fall. This look calls for quite a commitment, but done right it's just oh so good.  In the words of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe: "I don't know what to do, so I'm just going to put on a big fur hat!" New life motto, ladies?
